
December 1st, 1955: Rosa Parks is arrested for refusing to move to the back of a bus and give her seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama.
Known as “the first lady of civil rights” and “the mother of the freedom movement”.
Her refusal to give up her seat on the bus to a white passenger became an important symbol of the modern Civil Rights Movement. Making her an international icon of resistance to racial segregation.
